Barrel Vault roofs

Our barrel vault roofs are available in a standard bronze or white structured polycarbonate. A wide variety of other custom colors can also be specified to add color to your shelter design. These roofs are available in standard widths to 8 and on a custom basis to 12. Ornate grill work, louvers or a fan can also be added to the barrel vault end panels.More barrel vault roof shelters. The barrel vault roof option is available on all Brasco shelter lines. The standard colors are a white or bronze translucent. Available in standard widths to 8, and on a custom basis, to widths of 12. The length can be extended to almost any size. We can add decorative accents to the ends of the barrel vault or a vent to increase air flow. A solar lighting package is depicted in the middle picture that attaches to the roof frame with the light, battery and controllers housed in a special box within the roof structure.

Barrel vaults are often used when in-plane rooflights are unsuitable, for example: industrial curved & low pitch roofs, or for standing seam built-up metal roofing systems where a secret fix style system is required. SuperVault is designed without through fixing for just this application. Barrel vaults are recommended by the HSE as they are less easy to walk on than in-plane rooflights.Barrel Vaults can be chosen on safety grounds: the HSE recommend them, as it is easier to see an out-of-plane rooflight and impossible to step on inadvertently. HARCON BV is thermoformed out of 2mm polycarbonate which achieves class B non-fragility, and SuperVault can be manufactured in SafeLight GRP, for zero risk. Polycarbonate eX-plane is available to give the safety advantages of a barrel with the simplicity of in-plane roofing.

Classical barrel vault structures of unreinforced masonry function on the principle of the arch, which is dependant on the stability of the supporting piers to resist the arch thrust and maintain compression in all sections of the structure -- in fact an unreinforced masonry of barrel arch is like a like very deep arch, dependent on the stability of thick walls to resist the thrust of the vault. The barrel vault roof structure at both ends of the 24th floor of the tower are a unifying feature with the barrel vault roof on the atrium portion of the HSBC Building

Roof Lights

Howells Patent Glazing Limited have recently incorporated a new range of rooflights and preformed aluminium daylight constructions into their product range. They come in a wide variety of designs such as domed, saddle roof pyramid, barrel vault etc. The rooflights are mounted on steel, aluminium, wooden or a concrete base. They can be supplied with ventalation sections which can be manually or electronically controlled, by switch, rain or smoke/heat censor. We can meet most rooflight specifications, described by architects, designers and contractors and are flexible enough to be able to consult and bespoke manufacture rooflight units as requested. We're happy to discuss your roof light requirements, however small or grand the project. We offer and specialise in flexibility in design and manufacturing. A farmer died after falling 4m through a roof light while carrying out repairs to a barn roof. To reach the area of the in sheet roof which needed repairing he had to pass a number of roof lights which had not been covered or fenced off. A colleague had been passing up materials but had gone to make a drink at the time of the accident. Check carefully for any roof lights in non-fragile roofs as they can be difficult to spot. They may have been painted over. In bright sunshine they can blend in with the surrounding sheets. Take precautions to prevent falls wherever the job involves passing by or working within 2m of fragile roof lights. fit suitable, secure covers over the roof lights; or provide suitable guard rails and toe boards around the roof provide a safety net, scaffold or similar immediately below the roof light. lights; or
